I've learned that Nori (a sort of edible seaweed) is considered a good food for herbivorous marine fishes. Woudl this be suitable to give to a freshwater herbivore too?

I'm thinking that if it is, it would solve neatly the problem of giving my Otocinclus adequate aditional nutrition now that there's a problem with obtaining Hikari wafers in the UK. I'm also thinking that if Nori is suitable for freshwater fish use, it would also solve some problems for Pleco owners too.

Most larger loricariids seem to love it, but I don't know about neoplecostominae, though it couldn't hurt to try. Wafers are mostly fish meal (protein) and are thusly not very good staple foods for otocinclus. Try mixing peas and spirulina powder with gelatin and a *bit* of shrimp. I tihnk the exact formula is as follows:
1/2 lb shrimp
100 g gelatin mix with appropriate water to match
2 tbs pure spirulina powder
2 lbs peas

food processed, refrig'd, then frozen. Makes for great supplement to fresh vegetables and, of course, algae.

If my cooking memory serves me correct there is a product called Aga Aga it is a natural sea weed thickner like gelatine but it could be a better natural product to use.
