I want to know if the pictus will try and eat my cochus blue tetra's, i sure hope not, i hear it only try's to eat what fits in its mouth, atm im doubting they would fit, but i rekon when the pictus starts to mature, it might be able to.

Just want to know if a fully matured pictus can eat a fully matured cochus blue tetra??

cheers guys/girls

He may very well be able to, and at the very least would probably attempt to anyways. I think I would stay on the safe side and not place them together.

I have not seen a fully grown Cochu's Blue Tetra, but I can assure you that the catfish will grow faster. The only tetras I'd house with a Pictus are like Congos.

Fully grown Cochu's blue tetras only reach about two-thirds the size of Congo tetras. I'm sure that a hungry pictus catfish could easily pick off a blue tetra, especially at night.

If they are like my two large Pictus they will any thing they can fit into their large mouths. In short I would say no dont do it.

Better still, keep the Cochu's Blues, rehouse the Pictus in a tank where it won't be temtped to indulge itself in an expensive lunch, and put some Pandas in with your Cochu's Blues. And become a hopeless Panda addict like me in the process
