Keep in mind the rubbernose (aka bulldog/L187) needs current and plenty of it. I think they like a bit cooler water too but I'm not sure. This is why I passed on this particular pleco for my 30 gallon hex tank. I have a Pitbull pleco (LDA 25 is the number and it is a different species all together from the bulldog pleco) and it has been great. It eats some algae but I probably feed him more than enough cucumber (every 2-3 days) for him to be much in the algae control department. A pitbull (not bulldog) or a bristlenose would be ideal I think. PlanetCatfish.com isn't working at the moment otherwise I would post a link.

Oh! And Also, if your common is getting big, and if he is used to the tank, and if there isnt too many territories, then i suggest you add no plecos. My common bullied and stressed out the BN pleco i have added. They are rather territorial to each other!

If you want a really small pleco, i would go with the clown or BN pleco. They stay within six inches, and they are marvelous to see! For color, go with the clown, but if you want coolness, go with the BN, as it is one of the most unique fish in the hobby!

Have you considered Otocinclus? They are wonderful, entertaining little algae-eaters. A small group of these hard-working little darlings would be an excellent addition to a small tank, IMO

I vote! Do you?

I am absolutely amazed by the response from everyone! This site and all who visit and share info totally rule! Anyway I am planning on adding the new pleco to my old tank after I transfer my common pleco to my new tank. I am leaning towards a bristlenose so far.
