I just acquired a very large plecostomus. About 4-5 inches thick at the head and around 14" long. Someone put it in my pond in North Houston are and I want to find it a good home. I don't think it can withstand the cold temps as far as I know. It would be nice for you to have a large aqaurium because I do not like stuffing large fish in small places. Please let me know if you are interested

Pfft... It'll be fine in Houston.

The summer would probably be more dangerous to it than the winter.

Actually, I live an hour and a half out of Houston, and it can get down to freezing in the winter! No joke!

No they don't.

Common plecos can be kept in unheated tanks, and are actually introduced and have breeding populations in several parts of Texas.

They can easily live in 60 degree water, and probably a lot lower than that.

If your pond is deep enough, then the pleco may stand a chance. I live in El Paso Texas, too far for me to take it off of your hands... Like 800 miles away. Sorry.

I don't think any of this is helping. The responses need to be at:

http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/aquarium/msg071913449421.html

The way I read this, KeithGH is not the one with the pond.

Sorry if I got it wrong.
