Hello everyone,

Since my bristlenose and his family died and since upgrading to a double light hood I've had quite the algae problem. I decided to try and solve the problem with a different approach and some more interesting fish, a Borneo Sucker/Hillstream loach and a "flying fox" to be exact. After looking at some pics on the net I think I may have gotten a mislabled SAE (this isn't a bad thing!) though I'm not quite sure, could someone help me out?

He's still very small at the moment and I'm thinking from the stress of the trip his yellow stripe could possibly have just faded a little. He's a spry and active little bugger, he's constantly swimming in the current from my filter and he seems to be eating okay because there's trackmarks along the glass and such. I don' think the tracks are from the Hillstream because I haven't seen him since I first put him in, heres to hoping he didn't end up inside my Blue Acaras stomach

EDIT: Yep, the Acara's ate the hillstream loach, they realised he wasn't tasty but it was too late. I saw them pecking at the side of a rock then went and looked and saw chunks of meat floating around that they didn't seem too interested in anymore

This is the SAE not the dark line continues through to the end of the tail. The trouble with them as they get older they become lazy and prefer given foods rather than their foods. What size is your tank? They can do a vey good job at cleaning up an algae problem.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Thanks heaps for that Keith My tank is 3 feet long, 2 Blue Acaras, 5 Yoyo Loaches and a single clown, I'm fully aware with how big they grow and their schooling behaviour but he's the only survivour from my original foray into aquarium keeping. Hardiest, coolest and most entertaining fish ever.

I know this post is a few days old but I'm hoping I can help. I had the same problem a couple of month's ago after buying a so called SAE from LFS. So I did some research and found that I did actually get a tru SAE.

Here is a great article that I ran across that helped me.

Best of luck.
