What Algea Eater ?? | |
zookeper Hobbyist Posts: 106 Kudos: 62 Votes: 6 Registered: 19-Apr-2007 | Hi Everyone Well, seeing as I dont have any luck with Plecos I am giving up on them. I do need something that will keep my algea in check. I have a 55 gallon long tank. Am wondering what good choices there are and how many I need of them for my size tank. Prefer something hardy and easy to care for. Suggestions please... Thanks so much. |

Otos are good, but of course not will large and aggressive fishes. If your dealing with large aggressive fish, try looking at CAE, they can get aggressive when older but larger fishes should be able to deal with it. But if you have a community tank, try looking at dwarf oto catfish. |

My tank is understocked as far as I know. Only 6 Danio, 6 Glos and the two cats. Are otos easy to care for? I read somewhere that people havent much luck with them. What about a Simaese Algae eater? I dont know the full name. Thanks |

They are stil great fish and i would love to get more. Otos are alittle sensitive, but not to bad. If your tank is going well then there should be no problems. But as far as care goes, very easy. |

It only took him three days to clean up an area 6sq ins. I also have them in the 5ft tank yes there is algae on some of the Anubiuas but who cares they do an excellent job. The apprently can develop a lazy habit and would rather eat prepared foor rather than their natural diet. I also have three ottos in the Betta tank and they would have no hope at all in keeping that tank clean of algae. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
