I have two yoyo (Pakistani loaches)And one of those is always playing dead I always have to inspect closely coz it frightens the life right out of me every time. The other one always comes to the top of the tank when I open the lid to investigate its quite strange.

My two largest will sometimes lock jaws and fight ,and then go to opposite ends of the tank and sulk.then within 30 mins they will be side by side where they normally are,it really looks like a lovers tiff.

Gibson SG you know you want one!!

Yep - the play dead thing is definately unique. Mine does that and even though I know they just do that - I always take a closer look.

With CLs, you never really know what is normal...:%)
Victim, you remember we spoke about this in one of the earlier threads that a clown of mine gaurds his little cave with his life. Well, I have an update to it. I put in a new little house which is really dark and looks like an old ruin, and another clown has taken it over, and he wont let anybody in. He will fight even Patrick (my biggest and greediest CL) and keep him out.

my clown loachs (3 of them) just seem to constantly surprise me. i had never noticed them doin anything real weird till yesty wen i read this thread. then i sat and watched forabout 10 minutes (as i often do) and surprise surprise, one of the loaches was in hid little hollow ceramic pipe and was laying on his side. i poked him just to make sure that it was still alright, but now it is continually doing it. but then if i tap it it swims out fine and joins my other 2.the second one does another weird thing. he gets between my intake tube and stands vertical with its nose near the top of the tank. is this normal??

My smallest clown likes to dig his own caves. I'm always worried about burying him when I gravel vac.

I just love watching my CL's pick up the sinking pellets and swim off with it so the others can't get it. I have this one big one that I have to feed first now. He gets his own pellet - the others have to share.

Its like watching dogs eat together. Once they finish they're own food, they move onto the bowl next to them!

Mine jumped out of the tank.

It scares you when yours play's dead in a new spot in the tank that ytour not used to, and you see a light white color in the tank, and your heart beats really fast, and your like "oh no" and then when you walk up, he swims away.

Mine went missing for a week! I removed everything from the tank and left it out of the tank for around 30mins and presumed it was dead, a few days later I saw this movement inside this follow rock thing. I kept my eye on it and it was this orange nose poking out! I thought it must have been stuck in there and been stuck while I removed it! I couldn`t do anything about it as if I smashed it that could hurt it more so I left it, next day it swam out of teh rock and swam back in, it used it has a hiding place. This Clown Loach is the only one I have that survived from my ich outbreak, now I have 4 (including the one I just mentioned) and they all fine!

My clowns do a lot of funny things. Atleast 4 of them love hiding inside a big round shell, and sleeping together. One of them has a little cave in a rock he wldnt let anybody into?

What's the silliest thing your clown loaches ever did? Pictures to support would be great.

I have a powerhead that blows current to the surface of the tank, my clown loaches love swimming directly down into the current, gives me a grin when they do that.

The funny or most mysterious behaviour other that go through a pecking order at feeding time is moving all the subbase at the moment. I have current thread posted about them.

Yes I have seen them play dead many times over the years. Another thing the largest will do is when I am feeding them with the dissolved frozen blood worms from a plastic mug it actually swims into the mug.

One of my clowns (HatuPatu) spends all his time standing on his tail in a piece of drift wood. He only comes out to eat. Even then he grabs what food he can and goes back into his wood to eat it.

Another one will poke his head right out of the water to get flakes that are stuck to the tank glass above the water line. He pokes his head out until his gills are right at the surface of the water and blows bubbles out his gills while he eats the flake.

If you thought clicking loaches were noisy under the water, you should hear this little guy clicking in the air! It's deafening! He's the only one of the 5 who does this trick. So far I haven't been able to get a pic of him doing it but here's a fuzzy one of HatuPatu in his hole:

Edit: didn't work... I'll keep trying...

i was watching my clown loaches moving a piece of gravel back and foruth.

One picked it up, and moved it over, and the other would move it back where it was.... they were doing that for at least 3 hours
