I've seen them attacking a few. I'm sure they eat them at night and when I'm not looking. Well I also put some shrimp pellets in there and don't only have the snails for them eat. They are always nosing around the gravel. Is there anything else to feed them? I have tons of snails so its not like they don't have loads of food around. But knowing something else to feed them would be good. Any suggestions?

Mine absolutely love cucumber. They'll eat a whole slice within a few mins just by themselves. The poor otos and plecos have to fight for some. They aren't too interested in things like lettuce though so that's when the others get their share.

Yo yos LOVE the company if their own kind. A small school of 5-6 would be more lively and fun to watch than just a pair, although they will do well as just a pair. I have only two, and they are great. If I ever find more I'll hafta snag some. They do like snails and I toss some in once in a while just for them. they keep pretty much to the bottom, but will swim to the top for flakes at feeding time, and they get along well with everyone else in the tank too.

My yoyos will also eat any of the fresh veggies I put in the tank for my BN (zucchini, cucumber, sweet potato, broccoli, etc).

Yoyos are compatible with just about any fish but can get pushy during feeding time. They never hurt any other fish but will shove my angel out of the way to grab some flakes and scare the otos and small plecos off so they don't get any sinking food. Cories are almost as hyper as yoyos so that probably wouldn't be a problem especially if you scattered the food around a little. They also aren't as good at grabbing flakes out of the water as cleaning up food at the bottom so they never manage to take too many flakes from the top swimming fish. Most agressive fish also ignore them or can't catch them because they bounce around so much and wiggle into the tiniest hiding places.

Thanks Sham. I was worried there when people said they look thin. I have only had them 4 days so they haven't had time to fatten up at my house...I hope. I do feed them shrimp pellets every night to make sure they have food. And like I said there are still a ton of snails in there for them to eat. They are the only bottom feeders in there and are still a bit shy.

Are yoyo's compatible with most any fish? I'm starting a basic community tank. ie Corys, danios, platys, swordtails.

Mine eat anything. They'll even come to the top for flakes as well as any sinking food that goes into the tank. They also eat snails no matter how much other food they get. I have to be careful or they end up with such big bellies they look like they'll explode. It's hard to feed any other bottom feeders in the tank so the only thing in there is algae eaters and plenty of algae then top swimming fish. Yours are probably just too young and new to the tank to be such pigs yet. Mine are 2yrs old or more.

Now that they are finally available in Aus I bought 3 for my 55g. (at $5 ea) They have very quickly become the life of the tank!
They swim with the tiger barbs, dance on the glass with the cories and ride the current of the filter.

I love em!

Yoyos are great snail eaters! I had a huge population of MTS in my tank, within a few months after getting the three yoyos that inhabit my 65 g community tank nearly all MTS have been devoured. I'm talking several hundreds/thousands of snails here

Yoyos are great at eating snails. They definitely rival clown loaches. I toss pest snails in the tank every week or 2 for them. That yoyo does look quite thin even for how young it is. Mine were much thinner in body when they were younger but that one looks a bit starved.

I just recently bought 3 to take care of snails in my 10g...then they will move to the 55. They aren't really eating many snails that I can see. But they are so cute...I just love them. They hide sometimes but atleast two of them are out swimming most of the time. I have a fake rock ornament in the middle of my 10g and they like to peek out through one of the holes. It is so cute.

I don't know if it's the light, but mine are quite shy & hide alot. It might be that they are only 2 & if i'll add more thay'll be more active.

Yes, they play dead sometimes aswell.
