That would be an Idea. But I have rung all the LFS and none of them said anything about locals breeding them.

Does anyone know of people who are breeding them??? In Queensland. Mainly the South-east????

So there is no Breaders for these fish???

So I guess will have to find a fish shop that is good and also that won't charge the earth for these guys.

Then maybe I will become a breader!

$30 for albino bristlenose????

That I would definately get some at that price.

Do you think the store would ship them to Queensland???

I would be interested in 4 (3 female and 1 male or 2 and 2) depending on what they have??

I can get 3cm for about $30 in Melbourne, I think $100 is a little to much. That is how much I would be paying for long finned bristle-nose.

Just wondering if any Aussie's have these little guys??

And if so what was the price you paid for them??

I have been quoted $100 each for little 3 -5 cm ones???

My other question is what is stopping me buying some of these and breading them and like selling them for like 10 bucks each or something around that price?? Is that allowed?

Males are larger than the females. By choosing two and two of the smallest, you increase your chances of getting two pairs.

You would do better to pay for a proven breeding pair. A lot of breeders even when they sell you a group of 4, will wait till the fish are old enough to be sexed especially on a high dollar rare plec and you might end up with 4 males or 4 females. If you can pick out the fish from the same group of fry just pick out the 2 smallest and the 2 largest ones you can.

I am on the Sunshine Coast.

But am still tossing up on wheather to get these as 100 bucks per fish seems lots and a risk tho?

But I am thinking of trying it anyway. That way I can say I have tried.

Like for little ones they cost 100 bucks each if I get 4. So what are my chances that I will get one male in that? I know if is pot luck but just want any suggestions on what will I get.

Home breeders fish are much more reliable & better than imported fish that are sold at fish shops.

You guys are definitely on the right track. I would much rather buy from a home breeder any day!

There is no reason you cant sell the fry cheaper than what a lfs does. The reason lfs's can charge as they do that is because there is more demand than there is fish so. I've often thought about grabbing a colony of rarer fish (especially plecos) and setting up a breeding program in order to flood the market with them to help reduce the cost. Its rediculous some of the prices I see around!

Where in Aus are you again RAST?

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
