Update: my large BN died my other ram is missing. When i pulled out my BN out the sides of its mouth it looked like white hooks were protruding throw its skin/scales. Could the little white hooks be worms?

OH my lord why do these things have to happen Isn't it just so upsetting "you just get your tank up and running as you like it go and buy a new addition and bang the lot start dieing on you" God its so frustrating. I have just ordered a UV sterilizer in the hope that it will cut this sort of thing down a bit but also what I do is I have a small quarantine tank and I pop any new additions in there for 2 weeks to make sure all is ok before putting them in my big tank. Well good luck I hope you get it all sort soon and you don't lose to many fish.

I'm starting to think that maybe you have microbial issues with your gravel.

What kind of gravel do you have in your tank?

i got sand in my tanks
i think the little BN couldve brought something over to my tank because everything was fine before it went in. and if everything does die im going to strip my tank down and start over.

Since it seems to be all the scale-less fish dieing I would say it was the salt myself! How much salt did you put in?

all the fish that died so far is a bottom dweller. I'd clean/boil the gravel if I saw something that looked like worms. Thats me being over zealous though. Hope you find it soon.

No, those are spines that they usually only extend when they are captured. They are quite sharp get tangled in nets easily.

I'm not sure why they would have been out when he died, though...

well this morning when i turned on the lights my cories were just sitting on the bottom and moving around the tank but not 5 cories would be.So i went in for a closer look and found that one had been nipped and the others were fine.

Yesterday i also added a little bit of salt to the tank.

the occupants are 5 cories,1 bolivian ram,2 bn,1 male and 1 female fighter.

BNs tend not to like it either.

What were the symptoms of the fish when it died? Do you have your water parameters?

I have two female bettas in a tank with cories and other fish. The bettas sometimes snap at the cories, so I wouldn't be surprised if yours are doing the same.

I'm just starting out with bettas so you might want to wait for someone more knowledgable, but I don't think it's a good idea to have males and females together unless you're breeding them.

I'm guessing it was the bettas as well.

Also, corys don't like any salt in their tanks.
