I'm not an expert, but I heard over 30 INCHES, not cm. Which would be much bigger. I assume how long it takes depends on how much food they have.

I have one that only went from 2in. to 3in. in 6 months. But he is in a five gallon tank, and doesn't have as much to eat as he would in a 6ft long tank. Still, I know he will have to move out of that tank eventually.

depending on which species you get as common plecos, they can reach upwards of 2 feet in length and can grow rather quickly. If I were you, I'd go with 2-4 bristlenose instead. they won't outgrow the tank, they'll do a much better job with algae and they will not stop eating algae as they mature into adults like most commons do.

2" to 3" in 6 months? That's nothin, I had one that grew 4" to 5.5" in one month. Yeah, they should grow to at least 18 to 20" long, so yer looking at a big tank.
