This is the first time i have seen him, since there are ALOT of places for him to hide in the 55 gal.

He is a gold nugget, about 3.5"

He is sitting there, and his fins are moving, like, he is sitting still, but his fins are moving like he is trying to fight a fine current.

Is there something wrong?? I REALLY REALLY dont want this one to die.

He kinda moved.. he looks like he is fanning himself.. kinda like what elephants do with their ears.

I do put aquari-sol in the tank as an ich preventive, so do you think that could be affecting him?

(BTW, we have been using it for 15 years, and it hasnt bother the clown loaches, or my other pleco)

not sure how similar a gold nugget is to a clown pleco, but my clowns do the same thing. it's part of their behavior and not indicative of if they are sick or not. maybe someone with more knowledge about gold nuggets can help you out, but it may just be their normal way of being.

You think your fish died? ...What is that supposed to mean? In my experience, either a fish/animal/plant is dead, or it isn't. Also, which of his fins were moving? That might help people figure out what was wrong (or wasn't) with your fish, dead or not.

If you think the pleco is dead then take it out of the water and check. If it doesnt move then its dead, if it swims away then its alive.
If you think the new fish is acting oddly then do a water parameter check on ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate to make sure that is not a problem. If you dont have the test kits then take some water to the lfs and get them to check it and on the way out buy some test kits as they are vital to your success in this hobby. As you are a 15 year veteran in this hobby then you should realise this.

im only 16 years old.

I pushed him around with a stick (I didnt want to touch him because my hands smell like fantastic) and he didnt move at all.

I think im going to try to take him back to the LFS.

Take the dead plec out of the tank until you get to the lfs or you will end up with water problems because of the decomposing body.

Do you have test kits? Which ones?
*fustrated* please answer our questions

You had the post about your Pleco not being seen much right? If he is dead, take him out..Rinse your hands for awhile and take him out. Like Lindy said it would be nice to know if you have Test kits for the tank...If not take a sample to your LFS. Take your Pleco back and please have the water tested. I am sure it frustrates you as much as others..its really hard to loose a fish...Lets just figure out the problem first and then work from there.

I took the pleco out this morning.

Needless to say, he is gone, so he wolnt be going back to the LFS.

I have test kits for Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates, pH, and alknity

Could you use the test kits and tell us what the results are? I think its important to rule out water quality issues for the reasons behind the death of your fish. When there is a mysterious death amongst fish that is the first thing I do because water quality is very managable but sometimes slips below where it should be.
