has anybody had any luck with a pictus. will they eat left over food that my other fish wont eat that sinks to the bottom. I am setting up a 20g tank and this is going to be step one, figuring out what fish i should get. any information on this fish would be great, the sole purpose of this fish is to clean up the gravel and make the tank look nice. also, are these fish agresive or docile and easy going?
thank you for any information.

john

I wouldn't go with a pictus cat, they can be really aggressive as they age. They aren't the best at cleaning the gravel, either. I would suggest adding a shoal of six cories, they are really active, entertaining, are good substrate-cleaners, and they're very peaceful fish. I would prescribe cories for anyone needing a gravel-cleaning fish.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Cories are catfish, and they really look the part.

Also, they really prefer to be kept in groups of at least six. They crave each others's company, and do best when kept in groups. Two or three isn't enough.[/font]

when i say looks like a catfish, im refering to the long wiskers of the fish, like a channel catfish. i do like corys, ive had them for a while, i was just looking for something new.

I have large pictus. They are very terrorital and not agressive towards any other fish. BUT they will eat any thing that will fit in their mouth especially small fish.

I also think your tank is way to small for pictus anyway.

I think you could probably do a pair of Upside Down Cats too. Heres a couple links to pictures of mine!
They look very "catfishy". I agree with what you mean about looking "catfish" like. Whenever I look at my corys, I dont see catfish, I see rabbit
