Hello

How old are BNs before they grow their bristles so you can tell if they are a boy or a girl? I have 2 and I'm desperate to know if they could be a couple. I've had them about 4-5 months now and they are growing up so fast. One is definitely a lot bigger than the other one which I've heard could be a good indicator but no bristles yet! They chase each other a little when it comes to food but other than that they ignore each other a fair bit. Are there any other ways to sex them - I've heard it's very difficult. When they are pressed against the front glass are there any 'bits' I should be looking for??!!!

This info pulled from my personal e-mail,
from Crazygar. When I inquired about BN breeding. (I couldn't take the credit but thought the info would really help. Gary hasn't been here lately.

"Hard to sex when they are small, but look at the "whiskers". Males have long whiskers that are "branched" at the ends and usually split into two. Females, are shorter and straight. If you can tell (magnifying glass) right now (even one inch youngsters, you can tell with a magnifying glass), you can make a pair and let'em do their deed. They need caves, as like Apistos, are cave breeders. Many people use "PVC PIPES" (blocked at one end) as "BN Breeders". "

I am awaiting for my friend's albino long fin BN's to come of age.. Then, gonna try and buy or beg a pair..
Good luck !

Our now closed down LFS made this up it is artifical breeding rock for reptiles. It was fixed to the front glass by magnets and the hole was made bigger so the BNs could enter it easly.

This method allowed you to look into the cave with out disturbing them.
