In Aust you can buy a "Pea, corn, and carrot" frozen veg mix I give them a mix of that every time I cook them. I also squash them up before I put them into the tank. I never remove the outside skin reason their is possibly good nourishment in the skin as well. As I said before I just squash them up. It is a good idea to blanch fresh vegetables to break down the raw vegetable material. Mashing or squashing the peas with your fingers makes the pieces available to smaller fish. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

If not, then use your net and take out the veggies. Oh... don't use the creamed, frozen varieties! ![]() Last edited by Bob Wesolowski at 05-Jan-2006 14:56 __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

What we are doing at home is thawing and heating. If you defrost a frozen pea and compare to a fresh pea popped from the shell you will see what I mean. I remove the skin from frozen peas. Depends on the size of your fish but I have heard of smaller fish choking on the skins. Skins would be good roughage for larger fish but I am cautious. Glad your little guys liked the peas! [only will affect the water if there is uneaten stuff. I feed peas only about once per wk or fortnightly and ensure there is no uneaten pea around] ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
