Hi Guys

I want to use one of these for water storage, but can't find any in Sydney at the moment. All on ebay are interstate and pick-up only.

Any leads appreciated.

Cheers

Have you thought about a rain water tank? They come in all shapes and sizes. By doing that you might be able to get some $$ back via the State incentive on water saving. Try Bunnings.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Hi keithgh, thanks for the tip.

We've had two rainwater tanks for about 12yrs now - well before the Government incentive to get one But these aren't what I'm looking for to use with my tanks.

I'd like one smaller 220L drum for emptying into (to keep it for the garden), as well as another 220L drum I can put on a trolley to wheel around the house for filling the tanks.

From what I hear, there are people in Sydney with 220L Food Grade drums, often old olives barrels no longer wanted by the importer, and they are usually around $20 - $35. They are used a lot by Sydney Discus keepers.

Ebay seems to have gone dry at the moment, at least for ones around Sydney, but there are quite a few for local pick up in Melbourne if anyone down there is interested. But I'm wondering if anyone knows of a current Sydney source.

As a last resort, I will certainly look at Burnings, but expect anything from there to be a lot more expensive.

Cheers

I got lucky already. Been checking ebay a couple of times today, looking for listings of water drums & just now 3 food grade 200L drum became available. I bought 2 for $20 each & pick-up is pretty close to me.

If any other Sydney siders are interested, seller currently has one more (listed as item 330155223790). Also, says he will have around 4 a week available.

Hi Troy_Mclure,

By home town, do you mean suburb? If so, your close to me as well. I'm not in the same suburb, but a few suburbs away. Very handy for me for the pick up too.

I'm Menai, but I catch a train at Padstow each work day - so quite close.

My brother lives in Bangor.

How quick is it to get to Padsow? I used to go to Sutherland railway and it (used to) take ages back when I lived at Menai.

Usually it was because a truck tipped over on the bends near Warranora river.

Well, with the Bangor Bypass & the new bridge, the bends are gone now. I mostly travel outside of the main peak period, so it's pretty quick for me (maybe 15 mins tops to Padstow). Sutherland is a quicker trip (also due to the bypass) & would take only 5-10mins, but the Airport line goes around the City Circle in the right direction for my work. Plus getting parking in the parking station at Padstow is way easier than trying to get it at Sutherland.

Cheers
