bettadude Fingerling Posts: 49 Kudos: 15 Votes: 3 Registered: 01-Jan-2009 | hey guys i am just wondering if i put in a pond is there a way to keep out raccons and opposims? i am nnot planning on doing this as i am just renting but.. if i move sometime later in my life i wouldnt mind a pond if i could keep out the fish eaters in my neighbor hood. experience is something you dont get until right after you need it |

Cichlid Kid Fish Addict Posts: 553 Kudos: 285 Votes: 34 Registered: 22-May-2004 | you could try and put a low fence around your pond, they may bother the fish, but my neighbor had a pond and they didnt seem to care to much or go neear them.if you start to have a coon problem then you could go to a store like walmart and by a have a heart trap and put jelly and marshmallows in it and trap it then let it go down the road far enough away that u think it wont find your pond again. and your in luck because im a trapper and happen to know possum are omnivore,that being said they are oppotunistic feeders and would rather scrounge on a meal then try and catch a goldfish,they mostly eat berries and things like that. |

This also keeps birds off. Cichlid Kid Fish Addict Posts: 553 Kudos: 285 Votes: 34 Registered: 22-May-2004 | to clear up that and make it easier, when you go to the store just ask for window screen.all you have to do then is make a large square from 2x4's then staple the window screen on,if you have a big coon though he is liable to walk over it and break through or gnaw at it to get a hoe in it.there very smart and hard to trap,but probably unless he a goldfish tooth he would probably just seek other food |
