I have a quick question, I have 3 tanks that could use a alge eater or some type of cleaner fish to help keep alge down. 1st tank is a 20gal hex tank with tetras, 2nd 55 gal cichlid tank, 3rd green spotted puffer tank. anything help!!!! |

I'd wager there's something you might actually be able to do with water quality or something else. The hex could use a group of Otocinclus, which are small algae eaters that live ing roups. The 55 gallon cichlid tank could use bristlenose, if the cichlids aren't too big to eat them (in which case your tank would be too small for large enough algae eater). There's not much you can keep with a GSP, though. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

If the cichlids grow to maybe 6-8" they could certainly try to eat the bristlenoses, though. A common pleco will outgrow the 55 gallon, thus is not a good choice unless you plan on continually returning common plecs outgrowing your tank for smaller fish. Otos tend to like to be in numbers, so six would be a good number. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
