Many LFS carry driftwood that can be used in an aquarium. You just rinse and scrub it, soak it until it sinks or weight it down if necessary, aand stick it in your tank. For plants, you have a lot more options, since many realistic plastic or silk plants are available, or you can get real live plants. Many people order them online, though some LFS carry live plants. I have also found shopping online to be more fruitful for any aquarium equipment or decoration. There's a larger selection, and about half the time, buying online is cheaper than buying in my LFS I'm sorry to say... even after shipping. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |

Some drift wood pieces come close and that is about all. What exactually are you looking for. I have seen many very realistic plants/flowers used in home decorations but these would not be suitable for aquariums Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Mopani Wood is fairly expensive, but worth it. Of course you have to soak it for a month or so beforehand, unless you're building a blackwater aquarium (and even then you should give it a few days to celar any debris that's attached itself to teh wood), but the end result looks magnificent. I'm soaking a lovely piece of Mopani Wood right now, it's been 5 weeks in water, and it's about ready to be added to an aquarium. Just have to decide which aquarium to put it in - the Panda Fun Palace or the Panda Nursery. Here are some pics, taken before I soaked it: Mopani wood 1 Mopani wood 2 Mopani wood 3 |

juwel-180 Enthusiast Posts: 291 Kudos: 212 Votes: 17 Registered: 07-Dec-2005 | well my tank is now 4 years old. If i add a real pieace of drift wood will this affect the tank ( even if i soak it ). Would fake be a better option |

Granted I've exercised some patience and soaked it for up to 3 months at a time before using it, but if it was affecting any of my aquaria adversely, I don't think my Pandas would be spawming like mad |
