Anyone that can back this up? Id like to feed them some chopped garlic if they enjoy it and it really helps them out as Ive heard. Thanks.. |

I have never used any of the Garlic enhanced foods therefore I cannot comment on using it. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. As Keith mentioned, garlic extract is sometimes used as an additive in food supposedly to stimulate the fishes' appetite. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Its primarily used as a mild constipation cure. Only use what they can eat in small amounts, because frankly it makes the water bloody stink. Contrary to many claims it does nothing for their immune system either, vitamin c is much better for that, its already added to most fishfoods. Well that and good clean water and oxygenation of course. As with most commercially produced fruit and vegetables , its probably exposed to pyrethrin pesticides , so to avoid toxicity issues you should lightly blanche all commercial vegetables for use with fish, as heat deactivates the pesticide. Its one of those things that comes round once in a while, its more a feeding fad than anything, it doesnt really do that much. When I see people trying to cure marine ich with garlic, I cringe frankly. |

It probably won't hurt your fish, but it's not something I'd go around feeding frequently. You might mash some up with the regular food a couple times a year, but it's certainly not a miracle cure/preventative or anything. ><> |

I thought that garlic is like an antioxidant, but I also thought the oils will do something to the water. I will try this with my fish, if they ever got one of the symptoms. ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |
