I saw this in an mail order booklet

Well that is what it says about this fish bowl. Note "friends" two fish in that bowl.

I have converted the measurements.
Dia 11cm - 4&1/2 ins
Tall 9cm - 3&1/2 ins

No need to comment any further.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Yeah, I believe it's called, "advertising." Advertisers get paid a lot to make anything look or sound good. I doubt too many people would fall for this one though, unless it was bought as a sort of gag gift for a fish loving friend......... it which case the friend would probably just put a little fake fish in there. If you will notice, there already seems to be fake fish in there, as if they were "drawn" in. What's the matter.............. couldn't they find real fish small enough to put in there?

Oh! I just remembered............ years ago they came out with fish earrings. I think I saw it on a morning show. You filled these earrings up with water & put a real (tiny) fish in them! Needless to say, they didn't catch on very well.

And it seems I saw a necktie the same way.......... like it had a few neons in it .

And does anyone remember seeing the cockroach jewelry they were showing on one of the morning shows not that long ago.......... made with live cockroaches!? I'm thinking the stones were glued onto these large species of cockroaches & then you even had a leash attached so that when the roach didn't stay where you put it, it would'nt get away. It's all about money.......... they'll try anything to get a few more bucks from us.

The fish are drawn/painted in, and if you really look at their expressions, it sort of says it all....

Would make a nice little plant only
tank, or plants with a shrimp or 2.

11 cm diameter by 9 cm tall???

They put salsa dip for Pringles in bigger containers than that over here ...

That isn't a fish bowl, it's a shot glass. And anyone who puts a fish in that should be shot ...

Yep, that's bad...look at these from ABC Distibuting:

They're so tiny and EXPENSIVE! Why would you want these? Just buy a regular tank for the love of Mike!!

Edit: Those are REAL fish in those pictures!!

You know Crazyred, I look at those and think to myself partly as a joke that we should set up the Fish Liberation Army ... trouble is, when I see contraptions like that, it's only partly a joke ...

Plus, as you've already stated, for the price of some of these ridiculous contraptions, you can buy a regular aquarium with all the equipment that's FAR more suitable for fishkeeping ...

Trouble is, these gizmos are brought to you by people who think of fish as disposable trinkets instead of living creatures deserving care and affection.

Sign me up for the F.L.A.! LOL I'm with ya there Cal. I can't believe people are putting fish in water amounts akin to a coffee cup. You are correct in that these marketers have the view that "they're just fish". They don't see the pet value that those of us in the hobby see, and it's sad.

Has anyone calculated the water volumes of these little items? It would interesting to see just what amount of water we're talking about here....I'll bet not much.

Hi All...

I saw the ad. It is truly sad to think that someone would intentionally put a live creature in that size cup. Because that is exactly how much water you can put in that "Kitty Bowl". I have coffee cups that are bigger than those in the morning...

........Those Poor Fish!!!!!

Using Aust measuring cups that would be 625ml
Yet I have seen them in LFS in a jar equal to one cup.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
