DIY helps alot on those bills. I have spent about $3000 on 20 ten gallon, 1 twenty gallon, 1 two hunded gallon planted tank(parents bought the tank). And im only 16, and life never been better, I made of money from it as well it covers for about 90% of it.

I think of it in hours(worked) not dollars spent. I dropped $270 on 2 Synodontis about a month ago, and just figured I worked for free for a day. You can always make more money, but you can't get the time back from just watching TV. I watch my tanks instead. Its just so relaxing. With the 7 tanks I have(only 5 running), and all the fish and plants, Its alot of hours/not dollars baby.

well..if u sum up how much u spent on this hobby..then u will realise indeed that it involved tons of greens...i already dealt with that...money is just a thing in the past when it comes to this...what important is how much pleasure ur tank/s gives u... then...every penny is worth it.

No but I have taken many photos of all the steps along the way. The main idea had to be scrapped for several reasons not cost but impractable in several ways.

These will be posted after I get it all set up and running possibly several months away. I hope to start on the aquscaping in a few days.

I would love a $ for every Klm I have driven to get it all together 50+klm to buy some styrene before I can start the setting it up.

Some of my LFS have been over 75+KLm each way, and have made several return trips.

I hope it will be worth it in the end.

Between all 3 of my tanks (90gallon, 10gallon, 5gallon)

I've probably spent around $1200 and I'm only 15 years old...

Of course my mom paid for half of it though, hehe.
