I love my new python water changer | |
Alb Fingerling Posts: 16 Kudos: 13 Votes: 0 Registered: 03-Feb-2007 | I'm still amazed with the python. I've been away from the hobby some ten years. Had a 30 gallon tank and used a bucket for water changes. Now with a 65 gallon, I would just hate using anything other than the Python! It works great! It's a must have! Cheers |

Between the bubbles or any junk, they chase it from one end to the other pouncing on it along the way. I'm glad that the hose is really thick plastic! Do need to give a note of thanks on the tip about not having to let the water run while using it.... Plan to try that out the next time I change water.... Don't know about the rest of you, but I will be saving quite a bit of money if this works out for me! To thine own self be true... |

The other end is a Tee fitting that the main hose attaches to and the other end of the Tee attaches to the kitchen sink. Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

fish patty Fish Addict Posts: 539 Kudos: 223 Votes: 255 Registered: 04-Oct-2006 | HOKESE- To put it in plain english, a python is like the siphon that you use to clean your tank out with. But instead of letting the old water run into a bucket, it has a long hose attached to it & empties into your sink. Then when you're done cleaning, you flip a switch & the water from your kitchen faucet goes through the same hose & fills your tank back up. An attachment is connected to your water faucet during this process. The switch, one way, lets the water coming from your tank go through your attachment & then down through the attachment, emptying into your sink. You do the switch again & it lets the water coming from your faucet flow through the attachment into the same hose & into your tank. There is another switch involved, but no need to go into it now. There is instructions that come with it & pictures. So you can see why this way is easy. No buckets involved, just your tank, the python, & a sink. Hope I didn't confuse you more with my explanation! Here is another page for the python. http://www.pythonproducts.com/nospill.htm I don't know if they sell it there. You can check on the web to see what you can find. This site I'm giving you has a fax no. if all else fails. |

slickrb Enthusiast Go Gators! Posts: 238 Kudos: 47 Votes: 99 Registered: 19-Jan-2006 | Well, I have had mine a couple weeks now and I love it. However I will warn everyone. It can pull a good suction and one of my Gold Tetra's got to close and got sucked up the siphon. I tried to get it out by slowly reversing the flow but it hit the valve on the way out and died. So now when I am draining the tanks I put a net over the siphon to prevent the accidental fish intake. Rick See all my pictures at Google Web Albums |

I believe mine was the shorter one & cost around $30 at our local dept. store called wal-mart. If you like fiddling with stuff you could make your own from a waterbed kit. I have the site for doing that earlier in this same thread. If you have local dept. stores there, I would call them first & if they don't have it, I would call all the LFS. Yes, it does save the back & arm muscles............ but maybe we need that exercise anyway? We ARE getting to be a lazy people.......... inventing things to do our work for us. Then what do we do............... we go out & join a gym! But................ I still love my python. |

Yes, I hear ya... we're thinking of upgrading our tank, since we'll have more room when we move this summer we can put the fish in something bigger that will suit them better. We're thinking of keeping the 7-gallon for a few African dwarf frogs, which my son loves. We saw a bigger tank a few weeks ago, just browsing, I think it was 36 gallons? If we buy that we will definitely get the Python system. Our tank: 45 gallons 7x Cardinal Tetras 7x Black Neon Tetras 7x Glowlight Tetras 2x Ottos 2x Ghost Shrimp 3x Spotted Corys 3x Panda Corys |
