Do you like the smell? ![]() __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

If you have any shrimp or desireable snails eating algae in your tanks your better off skipping that idea. Not that there are many medicines much safer for these creatures. I also half does it around scaleless fish particularly otos and I don't use pimafix at all. |

It is actually made from plant material. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent (the principal chemical is terpinen-4-ol) and is under investigation for human antiseptic use in the hospital environment. This page covers assorted scientific tests to determine the effectiveness of the active ingredient in human medicine also (including as an agent to combat MRSA). Given that the chemical is antibacterial in action, one might ask whether or not it would be harmful to the bacteria present in the biological filter of an aquarium: however, the manufacturers claim that it does not adversely affect aquarium filter systems. If true, then this agent would have the remarkable property of being selective against pathogenic bacteria, while leaving desirable bacteria untouched, which would make it a potent weapon in the fight against fish diseases. Thus far, my own first use of this to deal with a particularly recalcitrant (and apparently Myxazin resistant) case of tail rot in some of my Pandas seems to be yielding excellent results. Updates to be posted when available. ![]() Go here to see the manufacturer's web page covering Melafix. ![]() |
