I've noticed some slight mildew accumulation in a corner of 2 walls (where they come together at an "inner joint".
But not in the tank rooms themselves.

I currently have two 55g tanks running 2 power filters each in the general area (nearby rooms) and am going to be adding a 6ft tank in one of those rooms....and a 20g "sick or new fish confinement tank" in the other.

Both of the current 55g tanks evaporate/lose about 2 gallons into the air per week currently and I replace/refill weekly. When I get the other tanks(especially the Big One), there will no doubt be more warm moisture in the air.

Does anyone have mildew issues from multiple tanks?
Is there something(a reasonably priced air dehumidifier)that I should think about getting for both rooms?

Does anyone here with lots of tanks use them?

Do you have cover glass on them? Can't see how they could be causing so much moisture in the air though, even without cover glass.

You are getting the mildew because of the moisture and lack of ventilation. If it is not controlled you will be in a very serious health issues for your self as it will build up to a very strong bacteria colony and every time you enter the room you will be breathing in all this bad bacteria/fungus.
It is some thing you must address straight away with fresh air ventilation. Also you will have to remove all the mildew and this could involve using strong chemicals depending how bad it is.
Finally there is a good chance there is mildew in other places as well it will come down to a goood search and find.

You seid: But not in the tank rooms themselves, that makes me wonder if you may have a leak in that wall itself. Mold is a very big health issue for older people and children... You might just on the safe side look around the area windows outside walls and roofs, also if there a a bathroom of maybe a leaking pipe. A dehumidifier would work just remember to empty the pan, or adding a fan and leaving the room doors open. These may help if the problem is being caused the tank evap., which is how the tank water cools down. but if there not in that room than chances are you need to take a peek at the area closely

Guys,
Thank you for your responces and interest.

That reply about my saying that the traces are not in the tank rooms, makes me suspect another source also. So far, it is "minimal", but I'll closely inspect other corners of the house.

Yes, there are glass tops on both tanks, but still the noticable evaporation in the tanks was concerning me as the source. I need to add about 3 gallons of water every 4 days to each tank to bring them full level again....until water change times. I guess that might be normal using 2 high flow power filters on each tank with so much (800 gallons per hour)circulation. I do vent the house when the outside temperature is "moderate"...which is becoming less frequent here in Texas, US as summer comes on....Ha!

Hi,
It's so dry here in Colorado that my 30 gallon tank looses
a little over a 3rd of a gallon every couple of days.
