after fish are acclimated to the tank theyre usually pretty stressed. will feeding them right after acclimation help them wind down or will it only make the situation worse with things like competing for food and having to become more active in order to get the food?

Hi,
After release from the net, most fish do an instant scan for a larger fish coming after them, and a place to hide. They scram to cover and then get their bearings. I'd wait till the next regular feeding time, and not add any additional food (an extra pinch for instance cause I just added a fish to the mix.
