![]() | Am I doing the proper thing? |

Well things got generally worse and I lost a few. The fish that are left I fished them out last night and put them in a Quarantine tank(finally got a hold of a rubbermaid container) and I'm treating that w/ meds right now. Ph , SG and Temp all match the main tank. And I have another rubbermade tank w/ the same readings ready to go after the first 24 hour period is up. And have a bubbler in the fish rubbermaid tank. And for the Main tank I put 2 150 watt heaters in there and raising the tank to 87-90 degrees F. I plan on treating the fish for a good 3-4 weeks and leaving the main tank fishless w/ the high temp for that long as well. Just wanted to know if I'm doing the proper thing right now. I would of lost all my fish anyways and figured at least i'm giving this a shot to fight this stupid thing at the moment. Let me know Thanks |

As well as, moving the fish may stress them out even farther, which may be the cause of the ich to begin with. I'm not an expert, just repeating what I have read in other threads. ( I know it's nice to sometimes get a quick reply to your questions.) I would also try to do a search on the forums for ich. I have found that doing those searchs are highly beneficial. Hope that helps a bit, and I know there will be more informed members to give a more complete answer. |

And i've read ich can't survive past 86 degrees F but it's dangerous to have fish in there b/c higher temps reduce more O2 from the water. So thats why my guys are in a quarantine tub at the moment. And as far as more stress from moving them. Since they've been in the tub over night ive noticed theyre swimming around more now compared to being in the main tank to where they just stayed in one spot and didn't look good at all. Like i said i have another rubbermaid container w/ identical water to the one they're in now so tonight they'll get moved again and i'll have another rubbermaid ready to go when that 24 hour treatment is done. |

This cured the ich really well and only had 1 death of a fish, all the invertabrates were fine. One thing i have come to realize is when dealing with salt water its completly opposite to fresh water. And about a week afterwards it came back worse. That's when I quarantined them seperately from the tank then. And btw thanks for the replies anyways but The final 4 fish died by the time i got home yesterday afternoon. So now my entire 125 is whiped out. Still thinking whether or not to tear down the 125 and go back to cichlids(always had good luck w/ them) or to try the sw one more time. My 55 and 30 gal. sw tanks are doing fine just my 125 had a hard time. |
