Ive had many tanks before, 4 still on the go, I have purchased a 77gal, concerned about where to place it?
thats going to be alot of weight, is there anyone who can tell me what I should be looking out for..
its a second level (basement below) should it be only on a outside wall? is there anything I should be checking for in the underneath first..
It is a brick home 45 yrs old and solid foundation, so its not like an old farm house or something.. any pointers for me.. what would be most suitable for a tank that size..
and I dont plan on having 300 pounds of rock..lightly with rock and DW..plants..
thanks for your help to get me started..
Sue

Hi,
You want to put it against an outside wall, and
perpendicular to the floor joists, NOT parallel.

Here is a site that should answer your questions:

It will want to be placed across the beams (these are the main pieces of timber that hold the flooring up), that way the weight is spread over a wide area.

As to where to place the tank that will be dictated by the beams. Naturally you will not be placing it in any direct sunlight or cold draughts also in a situation where people are walking passed all the time and causing any vibrations are travelling up through the tank.

If you do not understand to what I am referring to about the construction I strongly suggest you get some one with a little building construction check it out first just to be on the safe side.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
