This is normally excreted by fish and the process of cycling the tank can stress the fish as the quantity of ammonia rises, followed by nitrites and later nitrates. With the fishless cycling of a tank, instead of using fish as the ammonia source, we simply add regular, unscented, no additive, household ammonia to the tank and let "nature" take over. Here are a few articles on the fishless cycling that will explain the process in detail: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-fishless-cycling.htm http://www.csupomona.edu/~jskoga/Aquariums/Ammonia.html And Lastly, http://www.aquahobby.com/articles/e_fishless.php Hope this helps... Ingredients weren't listed, but I shook it & it didn't foam. There was no phone number on the product to ring for further info. Still, not sure if it's the right product to use. Does anyone know if cloudy ammonia is the right product to use? Cheers TW |
