So, I'm not sure if I want to change this and could use a nudge in the right direction. Alkalinity prevents pH swings and I test for this when I check for KH. My tanks water stays around 8 dKH with a 7.0 pH. Gh = 447.5 ppm after three tests. That can't be right.

Hi Tug,
I expected that someone might have responded to your
question by now.
When "we" get results that are seemingly so out of whack,
"our" first advice is to verify the results independently.
Take a sample to an LFS and ask them to test the water.
Very nearly every one of them will do this for nothing.

Draw a glass of water from the tap, allow it to stand
for 24 hours (keep the pets and humans out of it) and
test that.

Call the local water company and ask them to verify what
you are seeing.

Then let us know what your results are.

Frank

What I have done previously is take the same test sample to more than one LFS in fact once I went to three and each test was slightly different and all tests done in just over one hour.
Another thing what testing equipment are you using and is it fresh by that I mean passed by the used by date?

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
