Already I have a snail infestation -_- but that's beside the point. Currently housed in the tank are three mollies, each about 2 and a half inches long. I know this is probably a bit understocked, but I'm looking to change that. ^_^ Can you think of anything I can add to this setup? I'm open to any suggestions, and I'm really not all that picky. Make it something cool! *cough*cories!*cough* ![]() ![]() Last edited by Cheshire Cat at 30-Jun-2005 02:35 |

Are you looking for something in particular?. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

If you use any chemicals to remove them it could cause other problems and will cost you a lot of money. I see this is your biggest tank. Think about this, buy a small clown loach they are not expensive, let him do the job (which he will) then take him back to your LFS this time he could be a lot fatter and in excellent condition, then buy your new fish. That is one certain way of removing snails with out any chemicals at all. Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I would say add groups of 6 maximum and wait a week (better 2) before adding the next ones. Regarding your Mollies, do you add salt to the tank? If so (and I don’t say you have to) make sure that your new fish will tolerate that. Furthermore, if you are planning on having a few of your Molly fry to grow up in your tank than keep that in mind when stocking, they will need their space too. Or, use that fry then as a reason to get a bigger tank ![]() Ingo ![]() |

Are you going to keep the Mollies, or are you going to get rid of them. Mollies require salt in their water and not just a little, they require alot. The water should be brackish, and with acclimation, they can even live in a salt water tank. Keeping Mollies considerably narrows the choice of tankmates because of the amount of salt in their water. You should consider only brackish water tankmates. Additionally, depending upon the plants that you have, as you increase the salt content of the water, they may die off. These plants will thrive in the brackish water environment: [link=http://www.azgardens.com/habitats_brackish.php]http://www.azgardens.com/habitats_brackish.php" style="COLOR: #FF00FF[/link] Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

My LFS said that they were a completely freshwater fish! Hmm... keithgh, do you mean the clown loach will eat the snails? My original idea for the tank wasn't actually mollies at all. I just added them first to help the tank mature faster. I guess I might not keep them since their required salinity levels hinder many possibilities. It's just that I haven't seen a problem with them yet! The mollies have been living in my tank for exactly 21 days (I keep logs) and they're breeding, the male's displaying his healthy finnage, and they're very active ans swim together. I'm guessing popular opinion says this doesn't matter and that I should add the salt anyway? I had already planned on giving my small brood to a friend of mine with another 30g. Maybe she'll take the others off my hands too. |
