Feeding behaviour of Female Cherry Red Shrimps Photo added | |

I also noticed very few Cherry Red Shrimps were eating them. I have also noticed during the later afternoon the shrimps seem to come out to play. Seeing this I decided to try a different feeding pattern. I dropped 1 pellet into a area where the shrimps usually are. Within a few seconds the Khuli Loaches took over this spread the breaking up pellet around. The Cardinal Tetras picked up the fine pieces floating around and about the shrimps had a field day cleaning up all the little scraps. BUT there was some thing very strange there were 14-16 shrimps at the gathering and all were females. The only males in site were in and around the Anubias nana, half a tank away. I think there could be one male CRS there. I tried to take a photo but very difficult to do. Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | The pattern you are noting is something that I have seen in my tank also. I am not sure why it happens either but it seems that there isn't a lot of mixing of genders at feeding time. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

After the khuli's finished the males were still there but out came the females and actually pushed the males away.
