coop Enthusiast Posts: 168 Kudos: 60 Votes: 2 Registered: 25-Jan-2006 | i recently moveed 6 hony gouramis into my 20g just untill i can sell them, i had to put the male splendens in one of those cages at the front of the tank until i sold the honeys. as i went to school at sum time during the day one of the suction cups failed and the fighter was set loose in with the honeys. they have been living together with no problems at all for the last week. the male honeys are even in ful colour. |

I have also mixed gouramis and bettas and Gouramis and Angelfish (another combination I usually don't recommend) with nothing horrible happening. But I've also seen a dwarf neon gourami kill everything in it's tank, and I have a pearl gourami who about once a month goes on a bullying rampage and chases everything out of half of his tank, but the rest of the time he's just fine and sociable as ever. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it really doesn't, and when it doesn't, there can be dreadful results. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |

Mixing a betta with a 3 spot or dwarf is much more likely to end in disaster. It may work on the odd occasion but I would not recommend that most people try putting a betta with any gouramis. I have seen angels and bettas work quite frequently. |

I tried this with a male dwarf gourami and a betta, they lived together peacefully for about 6 months in a 75g tank, then one day I came home to them fighting and both died later that night. It can work temporarily, but in the long run, someone(s) will end up dead. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

I kept a pair of honey gouramis, sparkling gouramis, and a betta coccina in the same tank with no problems at all. I wouldn't experiment without having a backup plan (tank) available just in case. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
