20 gal. tank update | |
MaximilianDub Small Fry Posts: 5 Kudos: 8 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jun-2011 | FISH UPDATE!!! ---> Blue Gourami died as well as 1 Chinese Algae Eater. NEWLY ADDED FISH ---> 1 common Pleco, 1 Angel fish, 1 Rainbow shark, 1 Jack Dempsey Chiclid and 2 Blue Ram Chiclids. I also added a nice aerator with a bubble wall air stone. Save your "tank is too small for fish" comments. I have plans for a bigger tank upgrade and the fish seem very happy and stress free in the meantime : ] Old Tank ---->http://fishprofiles.com/forums/Photo_Booth/Simple_20_Gallon___%5D/40015/ My tank looked ridiculous before so I had to do something about it. -New gravel -New structure -New fish In addition to my old Gold Guarami, I got a Blue Guarami, 4 Tiger Barbs, 2 algae eaters (I don't know what they're called, the tank they came out of said "algae eaters" and that's all) and I also scooped up 4 glass/ghost shrimp. Be honest with me and tell me what you think. Your honesty has turned my tank into what it is now. |

You even got the fish to pose nicely in your first shot ! I don't expect the ghost shrimp to last long either. I'm a bit worried about your "algae eaters" most tend to get too large for a small tank, or chew on their tankmates instead of the algae. Can you try and get a close up? Plain black or dark blue background would finish off the tank nicely. If you do decide to go with live plants, some java fern can be tied onto the plastic plants, it will eventually root onto the rock on its own. ^_^ |

RED PHANTOM Fingerling Posts: 18 Kudos: 21 Votes: 1 Registered: 18-Jul-2012 | Hello MaximillianDub, Very nice structure you added to the tank , it looks quite real. I personally like 20 gallon tanks since they are easy to keep and allow you a little lee way on stocking. Definately a bit overstocked but you are well aware that you'll need a larger tank. Keep check on your water changes to ensure water parameters and make sure you you have good filtration system to help out on water quality, aside from the air strip you added may want to think on some extra biofiltration like a hob or an internal filter and you should be fine for a while. Also keep a look out on your cichlid species since they are quite territorial and may stir up some fights in the tank along with your shark, you can work this out by adding more structure and visual barriers to avoid confrontation. A nice dark background will add the cherry on top for your tank as advised by Babelfish... Any idea why your other fish died? Keep us updated on your project and show us more pics if you have them. All the best... Leaning towards the better side of life |
