I decided to keep discus and the previous inhabitants, misc. tetras/bottom feeders. I got 3 Red Melons discus, about 2 months ago, and two turquoise discus, about a week ago. I also obtained a fairly large(about 3.5 feet) peice of driftwood(which still floats..) with a hole through the center with openings on the side and one end. All 5 discus http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g230/spooke03/DSC00081-1.jpg Red Melon http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g230/spooke03/DSC00078-1.jpg Turquoise http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g230/spooke03/DSC00084-1.jpg Driftwood(about 3 weeks ago) http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g230/spooke03/fishtank1.jpg Queen Arabesque(one of the previous fish inspecting the driftwood addition) http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g230/spooke03/0825060001.jpg Hope you like the pics, and sorry for the flash. I have had problems with the common plecostomus/hypostomus becoming addicted to discus slime. Since then, I use only ancistrus with no known "leeching" onto the discus. Judging from the tannins in the water, the wood is still bleeding. My driftwood leached tannins for about 3 months. When that log loses bouyancy, how are you going to arrange it in the tank? __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

I might still cut it down and arrange it differently. Currently working on planting the tank and improving the cory population. I might get a school of cardinals in a couple weeks. As far as the pleco I haven't noticed anything yet and everyone seems happy. I can always move him into my 29 gal.(currently the home of 3 zebra danios and a betta until I figure out what I want to put in it) I have some java moss that I'm going to try to get onto the log.
