I took him out recently and measured him. He is very strong when he latches onto a finger! thats how I was able to measure him he wouldnt let go I have him in my 75g tank with discus, angel, loaches, corys, tetras, pearl gouramis etc. Apparently they go very red like that when there is plenty of iodine in the water. I no longer add iodine as my present well water must have lots. He is about 3 years old - he was 1/4 of an inch when I got him. Not even the angel or discus or the large pearl gouramis. The YoYo loaches and Polka Dot and Queen Loach as well my Dojos also all disregard it. Do they eat algae? I had a ghost shrimp but it wanted betta rather than algae. LOL! Colleen "If you're afraid you'll make a mistake, you won't make anything." -Family Circus |

So_Very_Sneaky Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3238 Kudos: 2272 Votes: 201 Registered: 10-Mar-2004 | thanks! I also think the rams are quite colorful. They are definetly one of my fave fish! Colleen, the shrimp is a filter feeder - he has little feathery legs in the front. They are EXCELLENT at cleaning and polishing the water! They eat all suspended algae, critters, food, etc. My LFS has recently discovered they can order them in, so I am hoping to get a few more to help keep the water clean. I find the shrimp a most fascinating critter. Sometimes he sits under the filter output straining stuff out, other times above an air stone, and then the rest of the time he walks around picking stuff up off the bottom with his little feather feet.
