Asleep on the job! | |
kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | Found my BN asleep on the job the other day... or so it seems. He likes to hang on the bottom of the driftwood above him in the picture... apparently he fell asleep or something and lost his grip? I don't know, I just found it funny, because his mouth is stuck in that "sucking on something" mode. He's just lying there on his back, seemingly oblivious to what's going on. Yes, he's breathing normally, I checked... and he looks fine today. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

If there was any bubbles coming from him,I would say he would have been snoring. Yes/No Good photo as usual Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? VOTE NOW VOTE NOW |

He saw me staring at him from a few inches away and did this great betta impression: he flared out his gills and spread his fins, for all the world as if he were doing a betta impression. Lo and behold... we've got bristles! Some very small bristles, but bristles nonetheless... my baby's growing up! I didn't know they had spikes... like a few spikes to protect the sensitive membranes protuding from the gill covers. I've got to go have a talking to my betta girls... what do they think they're doing, going around teaching my baby BN tricks like that?! Oh, and this is the first time I've ever seen him do this... I'd read someone else's thread on the subject, so I didn't flip out when I saw him like that. I just made sure he was breathing okay, then went searching for the camera. TigerAngel Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 | Kitten: Don't be alarm, my fella does this quite offen. I think its what they do when they get bigger. They get lazy. Or it could be all the hard work they get upto during the night time hours, when we are not up to seeing. ***Tiger TigerAngel attached this image: Last edited by TigerAngel at 18-Jul-2005 23:31 |

I haven't had him that long, and he's mostly grown broader, not terribly much longer, since I've gotten him. He's maybe two inches at the most, about as big as the smallest betta girl in the tank, actually. Today he was chowing down on a slice of zucchini and some shrimp pellets I dropped in for the cories... didn't know he'd go after the pellets. He seemed to be enjoying the zucchini... never seen him dig into it like that before. Maybe it's another "comes with age" deal. I've seen him nibble before, but not spend over half an hour sucking on the veggie. We'll have to see what other veggies he likes now, as he's settled in to the tank nicely and seems to be getting more adventurous with his fooding habits. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

TigerAngel Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 | He would love some pumpkin. ***Tiger I can also hand feed my fella frozen blood worms. I put my fingers with some frozen worms near his head, and he leeps onto my fingers. The first time he did this, he scared the daylights out of me.] |
