Thank you for those comments. Yes I designed it and made it all myself except for the actual tank. I have altered the top so that I can leave the light sitting on the glass and lift up the front 10cm for feeding etc

Those thingies are all very old Chinese, the bottle shape could be either bone or ivory is actually for some sort of drug as when you lift the top off there is a very small scoop/spoon attached to the top.
The round box is possibly for trinkets.
Budda belonged to my eldest sister, she would have picket it up about 1950.
I have no idea how old the others are I cannot ever remember being with out them, or even where they came from.

It took two paint/colour consultants and my self over an hour to get that exact colour.

As you have seen all the photos you can now see why the total cost of that Betta Tank just went over the $1000.

I actually started design work when I was 13 and have been designing furniture since I was 16 and have done many courses in various aspects of design. I think I just have an instant eye for balance. Aqu Aquscape has its line of design like every thing else. It can be extremly complecated or the opposite and extremly simple. Have a look at some shop windows it is often the very simple layout that attracts you to stay and look more. Where as a cluttered mess you just walk past.

Aquariums are the same too much looks like a hotch potch of mixed greenry and has nothing to say. Where as a few plants well layed out is a totally different matter. I personally prefer the natural simple easy look as in nature and not cluttered up with this and that.

Saying that a tank must have a flow that leads you from one point to another, it also must have balance of shapes.

Finally it must have that I want to stay and see what else is here. I am lucky with the 5ft Anubias tank it just developed over the years I still find interesting spots as the plants grow so does the aquscape.

I have a very good supplier of Anubias also I find them very easy to grow in fact the Nanna grows like a weed.

Rusty
I think I am just lucky to have all the skills to make things like that.

PM me you E/m and I will send you a photo of something special I made in 1956 it is now an antique which was a copy of very old piece of furniture.

Also thank you for all the comments I will be upgrading that PB very regually.

I realize I am late in replying to this.

The total cost shocked me a bit I was well out.

Yes it was well worth the effort and all the planing.

I just bought more plants today tall serated edged Jave Fern a big bundle Aust$15. worth a lot more I can tell you. Photos will be added as soon as I attach them to the DW and a few rocks.

Here are two of the latest photos of the Betta tank about one month after setting it up.

In Photo Booth it shows how I went about and planed the Betta Desktop tank.

The Placidity photos in PB are basically many of the photos I have posted in Photo Booth.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I hadn't realised you actually did that yourself
Very well done with alot of artistic flair

Your inspiration for the base has me intrigued though. The Japanese thingy, is it old? is it some sort of container? And the other thing that looks like a perfume bottle?
I would love to hear the story on them if there is one?

The plant of the left is a slow grower Serated Java Fern (This is a local name)

How old are those large anubias. That is an impossible answer some were a good size when I got them and I have had them for 15+ years. With the recent water problems I had to remove 3-4ins of the base of most of those plants.

Keeping Algea off answer easy the tank does it its self. Most of those Anubias have survived three tanks. Now they are tied to small rocks at their bases to stopm them from moving too much.

Any comments on Photo Bucket??

Wow. Your anubias tank looks amazing. How long did it take to get your anubias to grow that large? (I'm still waiting for the -first- new leaf on my plant.)
