My website (finsout.com) isn't the easiest to navigate the way I have it set up, so I'm changing the index page to improve that. Now I'm trying to pick a photo to use as my image map, but basically all I'm looking for is: which photo do you think is the best/most compelling, as a cut-out?
By cut-out I mean the background would be removed. With photos 1, 4, and 6 I'd probably leave a shell in the photo, since i's right there.

Currently I'm leaning toward this one, with which I'd leave the shell in the photo when I cut out the rest of the background:

I'd personally go with # 4. the colors seem less muted and the shell looks a bit sharper - though i guess you could easily correct both things in 6.

besides that, i just think the profile shot looks nicer, as opposed to 6 where the little goldie is turning his head away. but then again, 6 has a lot more action in it. they're all very nice, i'm sure whatever you do will look fine

Littlemousling,

First of all, great photos, all of them! I think I too like the one you proposed yourself the best. The fish looks alert and inquisitive and after adjusting the levels of the photo a bit the colors come out really nice, here is the adjusted version:

I like number 2 the best. If it was adjusted like that one you like, I think it could look even nicer. It has a nice background, which is a bit cleaner that some of those others. They're all great pics though!

EDIT: Oh yeah, you're cutting out the background. :%)

Well, I still like 2, as well as 10 and 11. They show the whole fish, when it isn't turning, and still have some nice iridescence.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I prefer No6 it seem to say something and has some interest.
It also says if this is the quality here what else is there if I look inside. As in looking into the shell.

I like 6 also. I think the fish not only looks curious, but very intelligent and pretty too. Some great shots!
