Junior was born in April 2005. He is the sole-surviving fry of a number of spawnings between my female blue acara and male GT, which I no longer have.

This picture was taken May 11, 2005. I didn't crop too closely because I think showing more of the tank gives a good size perspective:



And here is a photo I took this morning. He's ~4.5" long and has beautiful coloring, looks very much like his mom:

That's beautiful, Theresa! You can definitely see the green terror in him, but he has the beautiful Acara irridescent markings. How's his temperment? Weren't he and his mom spawning a few months ago? Any further bastard children from those?

How's his temperment?

He's calmed down quite a bit. After his grow-out tank he was in my 29g, which at that time was a community so I think that helped. And mom still puts in him is place when he gets bossy

Any further bastard children from those?

He's in my 75g which every other week gets a big water change (good-sized bio-load there, just not ambitious enough yet to add a second filter). That water change apparently replicates something that in their natural habitat encourages spawning... I really don't know if he's fertilizing the eggs or they're just 'not good'...I'd rather it didn't work out because I do think temperaments would change with fry in the tank.

My kids very much like Junior but they're so funny: Junior and his mom?!? Eeeewwww!!!

Does he look like he will get much bigger?

I think so since he's not quite as large as his mom yet. Even with being a hybrid I think he'd end up her size.
