I think I recently read that it is not advisable to keep large and small clowns together. Well these have been together for over 18 months. There are four small clowns with the three monsters.

Love these guys, the red fins on the big Clown are particularly gorgeous.

For some reason my Clowns seem to always have good colours compared to a some I have seen here on FP and in many Aquariums.

I have 3 baby clowns with 2 large clowns.

They dont really get along, but they dont fight or anything.

It is so wierd, in my tank, my clowns look not good, but in my dads, they are absolutly beautiful Nice orange colors, and red fins, so cool.

oh no its not!!!
however in answer to your Q clowns like groups and could only be kept in a 55 gallon whilst small,so unless you plan a major tank upgrade in the future i'd say dont do it.

Personally, i think clowns can be in a 55g.

They dont get too large in the tank to not be able to turn around in.

I have seen people with a clown in a 265g tank that is SMALLER then the one i have in my 55g, and they have had that clown for longer than we have had ours.

Also, as far as im aware, clowns dont really stunt much, they will grow huge in a small tank.

You are right Victim...they don't stunt, they just die.

Stunting is really something that happens to hardy fish like oscars and goldfish. Clown loaches are too sensitive...therefore....they die.

I have 13 clowns in my 79 gal, and yes, I plan to upgrade sometime next year. They are very small though, from half an inch to about 3 inches, nice bright and orange in color. Except for 2 little ones who are half an inch, all others are between 2-3 inches and they get along very well
