keithgh *Ultimate Fish Guru* Posts: 6371 Kudos: 6918 Votes: 1542 Registered: 26-Apr-2003 | Photo 1 This time it is the reef fish from one of their huge reef tanks. Naturally my favourite BARRAMUNDI ROCK COD The barramundi rock cod Latin name is Cromileptes altivelis. Family Lutjanidae. They are generally uncommon on the Great Barrier Reef, but locally common is some areas. They don't grow much bigger than about 700 mm total length. They are carnivores. Colour varies from black spots and white background, to same with bright yellow fin margins. As from late 20004 they are protected and are not allowed to be taken at att. If caught they must be released. Also no reflections or dirty tank marks. At least it is in my Burgess' Mini-Atlas. And here in the UK, it's known as a Panthefish. Otherwise, very nice pics. Love that lionfish! |
