Thanks all for the comments,

Here is one more, one of my Otos in the 125G. I know it is not as outstanding as the Platy one, but the best I have so far.

I know it is probably the weakest of my shots in this thread, but here is a picture of my Sunset (Sunburst) Platy in my 29G, feeding on the surface:

I like the last one the best to tell you the truth...looks very cool at the surface.

Very cute, have fun with the young from the preggy one, she is a beautiful fish.

My latest additions as of 2 hours ago, 3 Pearl Gouramies. Currently they are in QT in the 20G and will eventually (if all goes well) go into the 125G.

Well, although I have no new fish to show I wish to add a few pcitures that I have been complimented on in my tank log(s).

Here is another shot of a Pearl:

Thanks DragonFish and Peter17,

Somehow I must have missed your entries, hm.

Yeah, I like the Twin Bars as well (a lot) but they coming from a store where I have seen more Ich than not. I only felt comfortable to add them because they were the first fish in my QT.

The Rainbows are Neon Dwarf Rainbows, Melanotaenia praecox.

Thanks for the comments,

Ingo

Hi LF

Your pictures are so great. I especially love your Gold Twin Bar (a.k.a. Comet) Platy. Would you mind if I tried to copy your photo to show my LFS. They said that he can do a special order for any fish I want - & I'd really like some of those. Should they be in a shoal? How many are best?

Cheers

Thanks Robyn,

Go ahead and copy the picture, just don't give it to anybody (you can show it though) except if they are willing to pay hefty royalties (we can share them later) .

Twin Bar Platies are just platies, they have the same requirements. I would say 2 or 3 will be fine, one usually doesn't quite make an impact. Depending on your future plans, get either 2 females (and maybe one male) or 2 males. I had only 2 females to start off and now I have 6 (you know how they reproduce, right? ).

Hope this helps,

Ingo

Thanks LF . I have ordered them and can't wait for them to come. Thanks for letting me show them the pic - as it was helpful in making sure they get me the right one. This particular LFS seems quite good - they're further from home than my initial LFS (which is just a pet store that sold fish). They say that whatever I ask for, they will order in. I'm no longer worried about breeding, because if any of my fry survive their tank mates, this LFS has told me I can trade the fry for other fish or aquarium supplies that I need. I really love the look of this fish from your photo. Thanks again.

Cheers

Gang,

It is quite a while since I added a new fish picture, but here are 3 in a row.

Last night I purchased a pair of Apistogramma viejita II.

Here is a shot of the female, still looking a little ragged, just after being added to the 20G QT:

You asked for it

Here is a picture of the couple that I took, hm, maybe a week ago. I would have never expected that the female will turn into such a beauty

You have good taste in fish. I had some praecox rainbows a few years ago and they were nippy with my angels and I think gouramis. Have you noticed any nipping? Those Apistogramma viejita II caught my attention(after the twinbar platies). Which do you like better, the rainbows or Apistogramma viejita II? Nice work on the pics btw.

Thanks for the input to all

Jubilee -

About the Rainbows and Pearls: believe it or not, they really like to hang out together. Not that they form a school or such, but they seem to be buddies

Asking me which one I like better is not fair , somebody may tell my fish and then I would be in trouble. But my observation is that I like my latest purchase the best. After a few months, I begin to look back at the others and fall in love with them all over again. What can I say, I love them all. Ok, maybe except my platies, not as individuals but as a gang of rabbits. My 29G is becoming way overpopulated (found another 8 thriving fry last week).

Sure. Here's some info http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Minnows,%20Killies,%20Golden%20Wonder.htm

The pictures really don't show the beauty of the gold variety very well. They are quite peaceful and have big mouths. I had a pair years ago and want to get another pair. They are "predatory" with big mouths and will eat any tiny fish that can fit in its mouth. You can even feed them a whole shrimp pellet and they will eat it up. I have seen them at Petco lately, and I've seen them at Petsmart once before. They are one of my favorites.

Here's a pic of mine http://pictures.aol.com/ap/myAlbums.do?albumId=25760.373.1045342311442.1

Thanks Jubilee for the info on these fish

I bought 3 more rainbows this weekend, to size up my school from 5 to 8. But first the new arrivals will have to spend some time in the QT, here they are about 5 min after coming out of the bag (picture is also in my 125G log, top of page 84) :

Oooohhh,

Thanks everyone, that is so nice of you

I think it is not me who has the gift, it is the camera that was a gift (to myself, I may say). It was rather clear to me that once I got the big tank I will need a great camera (ok, not super, but still a Canon Digital Rebel XT) and a good macro lense to capture the life aquatic.

And compared to the overall cost of the tank and such, the camera is rather cheap .

Thanks again, I will try to have more nice photos in the future,

Ingo

Ok,

Got some new pictures to share. I went out to buy some kitty litter yesterday and ended up with a pair of small German Rams . Usually, buying fish without longer consideration is not my thing, in particular when purchasing them in a chain store. But the price was good, it definately was a pair (except if the store clerk packed the wrong female), and there was some space left in my QT.

Here is a shot of the male (sorry about algae on side panel of QT, didn't think I will have to show off new fishies):

Here is the female. She was all gray in the bag and is just starting to recover. I hope that I will have more luck with them than I had with my last set of German Rams. You can also see these and more pictures of them in my 125G log on page 86.

Well,

after having discussions in other threads about the gender of these two Rams, and after describing their behavior, I don't have them any longer, they died on me yesterday .

So when you look at the Ram pictures now, say a blessing for them so they feel happy in fish-heaven.

LF, that is terrible. And the male had colored up so good! Sometimes you just can't do anything to keep those guys alive. No matter how long you acclimate them or do what you can, it doesn't help. I'm lucky I guess that my female has been great since I've had her. I did buy another, I think a male, a couple months ago and it lived for a day.

Sorry about your losses!

Yeah, maybe some day I will try Rams again, but not soon.

Instead I will delight myself on my existing stock, for example these two (of 8) Dwarf Neon Rainbows:
