My Mbuna Mbuna Hosp tank(20G long) planted rainbow cichlid Quite honestly I'm not sure wat I'm doing with this tank. There are two sets of bolivians rams in with the rainbow but he's too much for them. I gotta figure something out though. My JD's If you look real close you can see eggs spread verticlely on the slab of pet wood to the left of the cave. These are 1st timers By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. My Mbuna tank in my opinion would look better with all the rocks being the same colour as you fish are bright strong colours I think the darker ones would look better. In nature I dont think you would see all those different coloured rocks together. The general shape of the rocks has a pleasing flow, leaving plenty of free space in the front. I also like the backing. The Hospital tank also has a pleasent flow of the well placed selection of good rocks. I would like to see a few smaller chips/rocks place on the substrate in front of the large rock at the right side of the tank. The planted tank has many good features and I was looking at it for several minutes trying to see every thing in the tank. My only concern is the large central plant it could become too big and over grow the smaller plants on its right. I would have prefered it more towards the left and cover the filter or what ever it is. It then would place it in one third from the left hand side of the tank. Is the back of the tank painted if not I would recommend painting it black. My JDs This is what I call very tastefull and extremly simple but done to perfection. Your eye just follows from one level to another but stopping along the way to see the interesting points/colours as you progress up to the top of the cliff. Over all an excellent job and presented very well. WiseIves Enthusiast MbunaMbunaMbuna Posts: 237 Kudos: 180 Votes: 85 Registered: 24-Nov-2004 | Thanx Keith. -I like the dark rocks too but those are the ones I bought at the LFS and I just couldn't see myself continuing to buy rocks. The others I have found at the local beach or just lying around. If anything I would get more local beach rocks and eliminate the dark ones but that wouldn't be for some time. I do agree that you probably would not see that large of a contrast in nature. The background is fiberglass & I picked it up on EBay for way too much but I'm happy with it. Actually it wasn't the cost of the BG but the shipping to the US that killed me. -The hospital tank is really something I just put together that ended up looking ok, so I posted a pic. I dont think I'll put any effort into it as it is under tha large Mbuna tank anyway and not really noticeable unless you lay down on the floor -With the planted tank I really wasn't sure what to do. If you look on the right side there is actually a reptile water dish that I used for a planter for the sword on that side. I wanted to make levels in the tank. There is also java moss growing in there & I think I want to make a moss wall for a bakground that was mentioned in the planted section some time ago. BTW when I put the large sword in there it was like 2" high & I had no idea it would grow so well as I do not use any ferts or CO2. Other plants in there are Java Fern & a strip of Anubias, plus two moss balls that are tucked away. -The JD's tank is really not set up yet. They are actually in a 29G. I have been trying to get the larger tank for them but I haven't been able to get a vehicle to transport a large tank. I do like the cave I made with the pieces of pertified wood. I was thinking of siliconing or crazy glueing them together in the future as I think one my JD's get big that structure would not hold. By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy.
