My first tank pics | |
ku5626 Hobbyist Posts: 76 Kudos: 61 Votes: 7 Registered: 09-Jan-2006 | These are my first pictures ever posted on the site. I am still working on the tank somewhat but this is how it looks so far. You can't see any of the fish they are all hiding. I think one picture has one of my baby cories. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank008-1.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank009.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank007-1.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank004-1.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank002-1.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank005.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/ku5626/LukesFishTank001.jpg Any suggestions? |

You should try and stick to one theme on the gravel rather than using the black and white plus the natural gravel. The plants could be better positioned probably more towards the back and you could benefit from putting in a nice piece of driftwood. Just a question too, is that a piece of lava rock you have? If it is then it might raise your PH although it might be small enough where it doesen't affect it. Lastly, what is that on top of the lava rock is that some type of moss? What are the inhabitants? About the gravel, if this were my tank, I'd pick out the coloured gravel, leaving only the black. Black makes the colours of your fish stand out too. Looks like you're already using a black background & they're my favourite too. You have some nice tall stem plants & I think they'd look better at the back. Fill the back out with some Wisteria & hygro - all easy plants. Though some say these need medium to high light, both plants grow really well in my low light tanks. Leave some gaps along the back, as glimpses of your black background will add the illusion of depth. Like WiseIves says, add a small piece of driftwood, with one of the small varieties of anubia tied on. Narrow leaf Java fern and java moss all grow great in low light too. I see you already have one rock with moss on it, but why not have a grouping of rocks with moss. For interest, have the rocks of varying sizes, but even though varied size, pls keep them small. This should help make the tank look bigger, if you keep the ornaments (driftwood, rocks) small, as well as sticking to small leaved plants. Keep up the good work. Cheers TW |
