This past weekend I visited my third aquarium in this area, the [link=National Aquarium in Washington DC]http://www.nationalaquarium.com/index.htm" style="COLOR: #FFFF99[/link]. It's the oldest in the nation, located downtown. Not as impressive as Baltimore, but still nice and I think it's worth visiting.

Jawfish:

Arowana:

Tinfoil barbs:

Lungfish:

Lionfish:

Slipper lobster:

Argh, look at that hideous drop-eye on the Arowana!

Nice pics, but it's not your fault if the animals aren't in good condition when you're taking the pics!

Yes, that arowana looks messed up in a number of ways.

Lovely pictures! I almost went there on Saturday but would've only had an hour and a bit, it seemed rather pointless.

the arrowana looks fine to me?

It is said that they get drop eye from loking down so many times, since they usually are at the top of the tank.

Nice pics BTW

yea.. they do get drop eye like that. but arowannas wouldn't need to look down all the time if they were being fed food up top. they were probably fed feeders... so they had to look down and get them. feeding crickets and pellets was what i use to do to prevent the drop eyes.

thats more then enough time to see it, if im thinking of the same one, it was in the basement of some building and about 500 square feet when i visited (about 3 years ago) i could swear at one point in time or another i had had half the fish displayed and was a beginner of coarse it is the oldest public aquarium besides theyve probably made it better since then

Isn't Belle Isle the oldest public aquarium? I'm on the FOBIA mailing list and that's their battle cry ... maybe there's some slight difference, like Belle Isle was a private aquarium first but went public second, etc.
Probably should've gone, but I'll have other chances. And I can't say I've missed out on aquarium hopping lately - the Monaco Aquarium, Boston, Baltimore, Niagara ....
