Whos the cichlid peeking in on the background in the one pic? if you're talking about the bottom pic, it's a frontosa. if you're talking about the 3rd pic it's a white red devil. thanks for the comments everyone. I have been addicted to synodontis lately. I also have a very small decorus but it's too small to take pics of yet. |

The number system for plecs or the "L numbers" is basically a system to name plec forms before they have been scientifically described. This effectively gives the plec a standard name that everyone uses as it waits for a scientific name; common names can be often be whatever the heck someone wants to describe a fish. Sometimes a single species may have more than one L number simply because it has more than one color form within the species. The number system is quite in extensive use nowadays, being one of the most effective ways to communicate about most undescribed fish. There are other ways to describe fish, such as the LDA number system, but this system is not used as much, if I'm not mistaken. Though someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Love the L142, and the Synos are nice too. That's a fat S. nigrita! -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
