Hoplo's are my all time favourite fish ever. I love them so bad. I have a male and female pair of Megalichis thoracata (i know thats not spelled right!) and hope when they grow up they will breed... which will be great to watch just to see the bubblenest.

I have had Hopolos for some time now very easy to keep they will eat any thing and are very active at morning feeding time.

Thanks...this post is old..couple of months old.
The Hoplo catfish was the first fish i bought
He is still a very active/healthy fish and he also comes up to the surface to eat..he loves brine shrimps.

Some people in certain countries say they are quite rare, I think someone in australia was having a hard time finding them, but In the UK I'm so lucky as most fish shops get them in once in a while!

When I have some spare time on my hands and the cats are fully grown I'm going to embark on my first breeding project and set them up a cosy little tank and maybe they'll breed! Has anyone else had any luck breeding them before? Apparantly I read it's not too difficult and the secret is all in the water changes......
