Let's hear from the scholastic bunch, whose spartan academic lifestyle affords them only small or otherwise sparsely maintained setups (post setup info, too). I'll get the ball rolling; 15 gallon ballitorid tank. Specimens: boraras micros boraras brigittae barbus hulstaerti danio margaritatus sewellia lineolata +fry corydoras pygmaeus +fry hara jerdoni gastromyzon ctenocephalus nanobagrus stellatus (cf, maybe) and maybe otocinclus sp. "3" in the future yeah, way overstocked, I know. very overfiltered at 2x fluval 3's and a cruddy aquaclear in the back. pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/Kleevage/IMG_0919.jpg the tank http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/Kleevage/ld.jpg a cteno http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/Kleevage/IMG_0919.jpg some of the dithers |

No pics of that either, I'm afraid. Your tank looks friggin' awesome. Doesn't look like just a 15 gallon either. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

So far it just has 6 small tiger barbs cycling it. I have previously kept fish at home and minimal funds and the need to move it fairly regularly meant this was the biggest I could get although the total cost of this setup was only about £25, utilising car boot sales and ebay! £12 of which was a the new filter. I know its size restricts the fish i can have but can anyone suggest any interesting additions when the tank has finished cycling? <http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2756676360053981031NWRiNx> |

fish patty Fish Addict Posts: 539 Kudos: 223 Votes: 255 Registered: 04-Oct-2006 | Pretty tank tom.......I wouldn't add many more fish cause of it's size though. Tiger barbs get to a pretty decent size for that size tank & are quite active too. How about a couple of cories to add interest & help keep it clean? Cories like to be in schools of 6 or more, but I wouldn't add that many to that size tank as they are bottom feeders & you don't have that much bottom. |

brandeeno Mega Fish Posts: 929 Kudos: 636 Registered: 13-Sep-2007 | nice tank tom! a bottom feeder like a corydoras species would look nice.. and also might i suggest you place a bit of moss on those caves to cover th gapes and also a bit of live plant (maybe anubias petite?) would look good attache somewhere in the tank.. even an aponogeton would look nice... great tank though BTW! if it is 32ltr you might need to upgrade soon or trade your tiger barbs in eventually (within the next year or two) because they wil get too large for a tank that size... \\\\\\\"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure\\\\\\\" |

kj fishy-finn Big Fish Posts: 385 Kudos: 200 Registered: 21-Jan-2004 | By how do u clean it I meant where do u dump the water? Would buying one of those siphons that hooks to a sink make it easier? Any suggestions or tricks. kj fishy-finn <*)))>< 20 Gallon Album 5 Gallon Album |

brandeeno Mega Fish Posts: 929 Kudos: 636 Registered: 13-Sep-2007 | kj fishy-finn, you would want a bucket and dump method... if you are on the first story you could syphon right out the window into a planter... if you are on another story you could just save the water and use it for some indoor plants (if your into that), or you could carry the bucket to the floor bathroom or suite bathroom and dump it wdown the toilet, then fill the bucket with teh syphon hose from the sink... thats what i do in my house, although if you have a small enought tan you could syphon into some water bottles and tosst them. \\\\\\\"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure\\\\\\\" |

kj fishy-finn Big Fish Posts: 385 Kudos: 200 Registered: 21-Jan-2004 | I hadn't thought about doing it out the window. That might actually work if the tank is close enough to the window and I am on the first floor. I don't think my suitemates would like the fish poo going down the shower. I wasn't planning on taking the tank up until a week after school starts anyway so I can figure that all out. When the time comes I hope to have pictures for ppl to see. kj fishy-finn <*)))>< 20 Gallon Album 5 Gallon Album |
