Fisk Cast Iron Aquarium HexagonFabulous Victorian cast iron garden aquarium by J.W. Fisk. The shape is hexagon. Two pieces. The top of the aquarium has decorative plant or kerosene lamp holders. Could be either. It's hard to believe fish ever lived very long in these. How did they keep the glass water-tight? Did they even HAVE silicone? Wouldn't the iron have rusted easily? (But maybe the excess iron wouldn't have been bad- plants would have loved it.) And how did they filter those things? Certainly, they didn't have actual filters. They probably just did massive weekly or twice-weekly water changes. The Victorians sure were creepy and a little nutty! |
