I was sent a photo of this tank it was apprently on E/Bay

Victorian J.W. Fisk Cast Iron Aquarium HexagonFabulous Victorian cast iron garden aquarium by J.W. Fisk. The shape is hexagon. Two pieces. The top of the aquarium has decorative plant or kerosene lamp holders. Could be either. It sits on a cast iron pedestal base which is not original, but it is very old and works well with the actual aquarium. They are not signed FISK, but the aquarium is in a Fisk catalog. What would have been the original base is probably what was marked. Condition: Dirty, rusted and the glass is broken and needs to be re-placed. Once restored, it will be spectacular! Either indoors or out in any garden! The pedestal base measures; 28" high and 25" across the base. The aquarium measures; 29" across, corner to corner; 34" and 18" high.

Keith

Whoa, that thing looks kinda freaky in my opinion, like something you'll cook a pig with.

The design is neat and very original though, if it was renewed it'll look pretty fancy I have to admit.

Yeah, I've seen pictures in these contraptions in some of my favorite Dover publications. It's hard to believe fish ever lived very long in these. How did they keep the glass water-tight? Did they even HAVE silicone? Wouldn't the iron have rusted easily? (But maybe the excess iron wouldn't have been bad- plants would have loved it.) And how did they filter those things? Certainly, they didn't have actual filters. They probably just did massive weekly or twice-weekly water changes. The Victorians sure were creepy and a little nutty!
